This year is Livingston's Bicentennial year and the Livingston Bicentennial Committee has a year-long worth of celebrations planned. The committee has been meeting for almost two years, resulting in a schedule of events fitting for a 200th birthday. Each month has a theme, with specific events designed to fit that month's theme. January: Strengthened by Volunteers February: Honoring Our Founders March: Getting Greener April: Fit and Active May: Happy Birthday! June: Getting to Know You July: Fireworks & Family Fun! August: Community September: Old-Fashioned Fun! October: A Gala Celebration! November: Giving Thanks December: Holiday Lights!

The Livingston Bicentennial Committee is busy planning many fabulous exhibits and activities to honor our great town. One of these events involves honoring various aspects of the community. Are you a commercial business, big or small, a house of worship, or an organization that would be interested in being part of this town wide bicentennial celebration? Over 20,000 daffodil bulbs are expected to be planted in Livingston.
When Livingston celebrates its bicentennial birthday in 2013, the township will be covered in thousands of blooming daffodils to mark the occasion. Arlene Johnson, co-chair of the Livingston Bicentennial Committee, has arranged for 20,000 daffodil bulbs to be sent to the township for residents and businesses to plant in the upcoming month. The committee's plan is that if the bulbs are planted in October, they will be in full bloom in March. “The feeling is that you can drive all around town and see the daffodils welcoming you to the bicentennial,” said Johnson. Got some special old-fashioned artifacts or Livingston photographs in the house? The Livingston Bicentennial Historical Committee would like you to share them as part of the township's upcoming 200th birthday next year. The committee held three photo- and document-scanning sessions earlier this month and another round of scanning sessions will take place 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and 1:30 to 4 p.m. tomorrow. Sought items include any family pictures, Livingston business pictures, school photographs and work and household items, such as typewriters, books, or tools, said Patty Arnold, the historical committee chairwoman.
