Marilyn Rocks at Special Needs Storytime
Patch editor gives her time to the community.
Certain Saturday mornings can be very special for Marilyn Lehren. Once a month she takes her guitar (whose name is Walter ) to the Maplewood Library for storytime, where a diverse bunch of kids are waiting. She introduces Walter to the children and settles in for an hour of song (and dance) played to a rapt audience, which is a mix of typical kids and some with special needs. As a Patch editor, Marilyn's donated time fits in nicely with the company's policy of Give Five, which encourages employees to volunteer for a good cause. But she would be there anyway, as she has been doing for long before coming to work at the Livingston Patch. Lehren says she has "been playing songs for children since my children were babies."
