Here's a look at what's open, closed -- and what to do with the kids.
With the Presidents Day holiday on Monday, the Livingston Township Council and Livingston Board of Education (BOE) have no regular scheduled meetings this week. Municipal offices are also closed on Monday, as well as the Livingston Public Library. Livingston Public Schools are closed for the week for winter break. Looking for something to keep the kids busy? How about Vacation Club at the West Essex YMCA? The program runs on Feb. 15, and Feb. 18-22; drop off is 7:30 to 9 a.m., pick up by 6 p.m. Campers can participate in a variety of activities including indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, swimming and special events. A boring winter break can be just what the doctor ordered.
This week was the winter break for the Livingston Public Schools. Many of our friends chose to go away on vacation. We, however, stayed home or as it is popular to now label it, we took a “Staycation.” The simple truth is, we had some unexpected bills this month and going away would have been a small financial stretch we were unwilling to make. So we adjusted. Junior went to a birthday party, and there were playdates (some planned, some spur-of-the-moment). Diva had a last-minute, low-budget Tea Party for the princesses in her class. Nothing big – just peanut butter sandwiches, cream cheese sandwiches, and ice cream cups that kids augmented with sprinkles and M&Ms to create “sundaes.” Also, Hubby and I also took the kids to the circus …
