Apple founder was visionary behind legacy of innovative consumer gadgets.
When Steve Jobs, the founder and visionary behind one of the most important technological companies in the modern world died on Wednesday at the age of 56, he left behind a legacy of innovative consumer gadgets for computing, phone and music markets. Jobs, who started Apple from a California garage 35 years ago, is being remembered today as a visionary by people ranging from President Barack Obama to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who said, "Thanks for showing that what you build can change the world." Obama called Jobs "among the greatest of American innovators—brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it." "The world has lost a visionary,” he continued, “And there may…

For fans, a sweet treat after pop stars tweet.
Celebrity sightings of the Jonas Brothers were the buzz among shoppers at The Mall at Short Hills on Sunday. The teen pop stars had tweeted they’d be there, and sure enough, Joe and Nick, were true to their tweet in Bloomingdale’s. And that was sweet for fans who dropped everything (including dinner on the stove, one NJ mom blogged) to get to the mall. Photos of fans with the stars were soon up on social media sites like Oceanup.com, a teen site for celebrity news: “… when someone told us that the Jonas Brothers were in Bloomingdale's, we sprinted there as fast as we could and then we saw Big Rob. He told us that Nick and Joe were in the changing room. We went over there and we asked for a picture. They were so nice and flawless." Indeed, …

The restaurant is opening at the Mall at Short Hills.
The Cheesecake Factory’s much anticipated opening is Monday, but 1,300 people enjoyed a preview this week, as The Cheesecake Factory employees practiced their jobs in two days of training with guests, to try to work out the biggest kinks before paying customers arrive. Patch was invited to one of several preview meals held on Thursday and Friday, so I took my 10-year-old son Max, a junior photographer for Patch, to give you a look inside before it opens. The restaurant at The Mall at Short Hills is 10,000 square feet of wood and marble, mosaics and candles, and the dining room seats up to 277 guests. The bakery area has dozens of cheesecakes and other desserts, a full bar and windows into the kitchen. It also has a lot of employees. It “…
