Where Do You Stand on Gay Marriage, Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen?

Mark Dunec, of Livingston, writes this letter to the editor about gay marriage and his Congressman's position on it.

The following letter to the editor was written by Mark Dunec, of Livingston. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-11) represents municipalities in Essex, Morris, Passic and Sussex counties.   A short time ago, I wrote to express my frustration with Washington’s failure to provide responsible leadership during difficult times. Specifically, I have taken note of one of my Congressman, Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-11), who has a particularly unimpressive 20-year record of sitting on the sidelines on important issues. From debt reduction and gun control to healthcare and immigration reform, Frelinghuysen has failed to lead while a divided Congress argues off of talking points. This week, the Supreme Court heard arguments on the question of gay marriage and…

Frelinghuysen told students he spends weekdays in Washington D.C., and weekends in New Jersey, traveling throughout his district. One of his goals, said Frelinghuysen, is "to put a human face on Congress." He noted that many citizens speak of Congress as a body, without knowing their representatives and how their interests are served. Students introduced Frelinghuysen as a…

Unfair story! Frelinghuysen is being an extreme hypocrite! His website says he is a moderate. That is the ultimate hypocrisy for Rodney leaped in lock-step with the Tea Party Republicans who tied up Congress for the past two years. He has brought shame to a family name that has symbolized moderation in New Jersey for three centuries. Let the Patch readers see Rodney's opponent's opinions.   more ›
