I agree the above comment. We do not have great restaurants in Livingston. There is very little ethic diversity. Too many Italian and Chinese restaurants and take out. Take a poll and ask your readers if they stay in town when they dine out. I think you will find that most people in Livingston, leave town to dine out. They are driving to Montclair, Morris County towns, etc. I am glad that new …   more ›

You Said It: You Love Your Sushi

Excellent restaurant choices are recommended for Readers' Choice poll.

From one end of Essex County to the other, diners can get a great sushi meal wherever they go. Patch readers weighed in last week and chose their favorite sushi restaurants. The results were as follows: In Montclair, Dai Kichi tops the list for readers’ favorite sushi in town, followed by Toro and then Nori. The place is great for couples and families and the restaurant now boasts a liquor license.Nori is on Bloomfield Avenue and Toro Sushi in Upper Montclair Plaza. Sakura in Millburn scooped up the top spot in Patch's poll for the best sushi …

Our Most Romantic Places

Looking for some heart to heart? We found special places in Livingston to reconnect with your sweetheart.

When you think of romance, you might think of Paris, Tahiti, Hawaii, but Livingston? Don’t laugh. Livingston has some very romantic places where a couple can reconnect ... with or without kids.  Here are just a few: ♥          Il Ripasso. Chances are you’ve noticed the lights in the charming greenhouse windows of this cozy, pleasant little restaurant. Dress is casual and it’s BYOB. Lest you think it’s too fancy for kids, I brought my little one there and, even though they didn’t have a kids’ menu per se, she was able to get a lush plate of buttered noodles that had her giggling with delight. The staff is also quite willing to work with your child to find something he/she will eat (chicken fingers and French fries, spaghetti and meatballs…

Mom's Crayon

How Can Moms Relax?

When you're on call 24 hours a day, relaxing is a challenge.

Sometimes I miss life before kids (although it’s been so long that it’s getting tougher to remember those BC – Before Children – days). Not that I regret having kids for one minute.  They’re among the finest people I know and I cherish them even as I’m busting a vocal chord trying to get them out the door. But I miss something I lost when I became pregnant:  the ability to relax. Back in B.C. times, I had only one person to worry about: myself. My husband could and can take care of himself. But once you realize you hold the future of another person in your body (or, in the case of adoption, on paper), things become more serious. You realize that your actions directly affect those of another person.  S-C-A-R-Y! Your sleep patterns change …
