The $2.2 million project to Rink 2 includes a new refrigeration system, boards and bleachers.
The first upgrades to the second ice rink at Essex County’s Richard Codey Arena since it opened in 1983 were unveiled yesterday. The ribbon cutting of the $2.2 million project drew county officials and elected representatives into the chilled air of Rink 2 on Monday. The work included modernizing the refrigeration system, repainting the rink, adding a new concrete floor under the ice surface and outside the rink, and replacing new boards and bleachers. The improvements, said Daniel Salvante, director of the Essex County Department of Parks, “have really put us into the 21st century as far as how we can maintain the ice.” Salvante added the upgrades, begun in April, could not have come to at a better time. The rink is constantly used by…

New health and fitness classes will be offered this spring and summer.
New fitness classes, a book club and two senior citizen health discussions are just some of the different spring and summer programs provided by the township's Senior, Youth and Leisure Services. Adults and senior citizens interested in tai chi have the option of taking a a new sun style class, in addition to the courses for beginners and continuing participants, said Liliana Branquinho, senior and adult enrichment supervisor. Those who prefer another low-impact fitness class could take the new 30/30 course, which combined a half-hour of body sculpting with light weights with low-impact aerobics, she said. For …

Looking for some heart to heart? We found special places in Livingston to reconnect with your sweetheart.
When you think of romance, you might think of Paris, Tahiti, Hawaii, but Livingston? Don’t laugh. Livingston has some very romantic places where a couple can reconnect ... with or without kids. Here are just a few: ♥ Il Ripasso. Chances are you’ve noticed the lights in the charming greenhouse windows of this cozy, pleasant little restaurant. Dress is casual and it’s BYOB. Lest you think it’s too fancy for kids, I brought my little one there and, even though they didn’t have a kids’ menu per se, she was able to get a lush plate of buttered noodles that had her giggling with delight. The staff is also quite willing to work with your child to find something he/she will eat (chicken fingers and French fries, spaghetti and meatballs…

Absolutely disgusting.......just another method of bankrupting our country and destroying the middle class with Agenda 21 principles. taxpayers do not want our hard earned taxes spent this way. Anyone connected with this should be run out of town and never allowed to hold another position.   more ›
