Hundreds Come Out to Celebrate National Night Out

Livingston Police celebrates crime prevention with the town's residents.

Hundreds of residents came to the Oval on Tuesday night to join multiple anti-crime agencies in celebrating National Night Out.  National Night out is an annual event that is meant for community police to raise awareness about crime.  It has been held annually since 1984. The night kicked-off with a ceremony to recognize all local law enforcement agents.  Brittany Dippold sang the National Anthem and awards were given to residents Heather Shulman and Robert Clark.  Shulman restarted the Livingston Neighborhood Watch program.  Clark, a Lieutenant in the Livingston Police Department, helped thwart a burglary attempt in February while he was off-duty.  Both…

National Night Out Returns to the Oval on Tuesday

The jam packed event occurs on August 7.

August 7 is National Night Out and the Livingston Community Policing Unit is planning a big celebration for the town's residents. National Night out is an annual event that is meant for community police to raise awareness about crime.  It has been held annually since 1984. Livingston's National Night Out celebration will be held at the Memorial Oval in front of Livingston High School.  The festivities start at 5:30 and run all night long. Stuff the Bus with Food on August 7

Another installment of the Livingston food drive will occur at National Night Out.

Among the activities happening at National Night Out is another installment of Stuff The Bus With Food.  Stuff the Bus is a food drive where Livingston residents attempt to fill a school bus with food for the needy. The bus will be making its way through town on August 7.  After a few key stops, the bus will park at the Oval for Livingston’s National Night Out Festivities and attendees are encouraged to bring a healthy food donation for the bus.  All collected food will be donated to Livingston’s C.H.O.W. (Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse). C.H.O.W, spearheaded by Sister Barbara Howard of St. Philomena’s and a project of the Livingston Clergy Association, will distribute collected items to Livingston residents in need.  Housed at St. …

Bidding Underway in Silent Auction to Aid Kids

National Night Out will feature two silent auctions. The proceeds will benefit 12 year-old Anthony Vallejo, who is battling acute lymphocytic leukemia and seven year-old Oliver Scheier, who suffers from a rare form of muscular dystrophy.

As part of National Night Out, the Livingston Community Policing Unit will be holding a special silent auction for a very worthy cause.  Starting today and running until 12 p.m. on August 8, residents will have the opportunity to bid on two prize baskets with merchandise donated from various Livingston businesses.  The proceeds of the auction will benefit two Livingston residents; 12 year-old Anthony Vallejo, who is battling acute lymphocytic leukemia and seven year-old Oliver Scheier, who suffers from a rare form of muscular dystrophy known as rigid spine muscular dystrophy. LPD Holds Poster Contest for National Night Out

The theme of this year's National Night Out is “What does a Safe Neighborhood Look Like to You?”

To help kick off the 2012 National Night Out, the Livingston Police Department is inviting the township's youngest residents to design a National Night Out poster. The theme of this year's National Night Out is “What does a Safe Neighborhood Look Like to You?”  The poster can be made with any drawing or painting materials or combination thereof (crayon, paint, pencil, etc.) on paper.  Collages of magazines or newsprint are not permitted.  Posters may be submitted on paper no larger than 12”x18”.  The entrant’s name, age, address and phone number must be on the back of the poster. Prizes will be awarded for the best poster in each of the following categories:  ages 5-7, ages 8-10, ages 11-13 and ages 14-16.  All posters will be displayed at…

Patch Receives Certificate Of Appreciation From Livingston Police

Website receives accolade for coverage of National Night Out

Livingston Patch recently received a belated Certificate of Appreciation from the Livingston Police Department for the website’s coverage of the Third Annual National Night Out: Turning The Light On Crime campaign this past summer.  Patch not only heavily publicized and reported about the event, but posted video footage so that those who could not attend could still be part of it. National Night Out: Turning the Light on Crime

Police throw a party with crime prevention theme.

Livingston’s National Night Out brought scores of residents to the Oval Tuesday night as it drew attention to police anti-crime efforts and delivered on its promise of fun for all. Kids took turns on a water slide and had fun on various inflatable rides. Those children who didn’t feel like bouncing enjoyed face painting, balloons, and carnival games. Adults casually perused safety/security demonstrations and stopped at tables for Livingston’s newly-formed Neighborhood Watch program, Livingston Patch, the American Red Cross, Grace Lutheran Church, LMAC, LYCS, WDHA radio, the Girl Scouts, and other organizations.  Parents marveled at the amount of freebies that were given out.  “I can’t believe how much stuff my kids have,” exclaimed …

On Tuesday, Spend a Night Out Against Crime

Livingston Police will host National Night Out on the Oval.

Lock your doors, turn on your porch light and spend the evening outdoors fighting crime. The Livingston Police Department is hosting National Night Out on Tuesday to build stronger bonds between the community and local law enforcement.
