McDonald's Will Help Teach Nutrition

New Jersey's McDonald's restaurants will offer grants to groups that want to teach nutrition.

McDonald's Restaurants in the New York Tri-State area want to do a good deed for local organizations. Restaurants in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut are launching the McDonald's Nutrition Network - offering local organizations the chance to apply to McDonald's for grants to provide grassroots nutrition programs. The initiative is part of a corporate commitment to offer improved nutritious choices and wholesome options at McDonald's restaurants, and to teach children how to make good food choices while using recommended food groups. Smashburger, Others Offering Leap Year Specials Feb. 29

Marketers take advantage of this year's extra day.

People born on Feb. 29 only get a real birthday once every four years—when it's a leap year—and so when that day comes they need to make the most of it. To help local leap day babies celebrate their big day, Smashburger at 989 Bloomfield Ave. in Montclair will be offering a free Classic Smashburger on Feb. 29 to everyone who can prove that they were born on that day. Other companies, too, are offering specials on Feb. 29 — whether you were born on that day or not.
