Traffic accident causes loss of power to mall on Wednesday.
The Mall at Short Hills lost power on Wednesday for less than an hour, according to the mall's Facebook page. The mall reportedly lost electricity when a driver was involved in an accident nearby and struck a power pole. The driver was not injured in the accident, officials said. As of 1 p.m., Nordstrom's remained without power. Shoppers exited the mall when power was lost around 11 a.m. They were permitted to re-enter around noon. Patch will continue to update this story.

At two malls, days apart, police probe connection after descriptions and video show similarities.
Livingston Police believe there may be a connection between a violent attempted carjacking at the Mall of Short Hills last week and a carjacking at the Livingston Mall a few days earlier, police said, based in part on surveillance video from the parking lot at the Mall of Short Hills and eyewitness descriptions of the suspect in each case. In Livingston, a 44-year-old local woman escaped serious injury in a harrowing encounter with a carjacker who took her car, a 2004 Honda Civic that has not been recovered, police said. In Short Hills, a 53-year-old man was pistol whipped in the face and head with a handgun when he refused to give a suspect the keys to his new BMW. Actress will be showing her art at the Wentworth Gallery in the Mall at Short Hills on Saturday.
Those who go to see Jane Seymour's art this weekend may be surprised at what they find. The actress and artist said in an interview most people know her for her Open Heart collection, but her work is more wide ranging. "My work might remind you of Monet," she said. "It's a huge range. I don't do 30 of the same thing." Seymour will be at the Wentworth Gallery in the Mall at Short Hills on Saturday from 4-7 p.m. showing off her collection of art. She'll have 80 pieces of her work on display, including watercolors, acrylics and even some sculpture. She's looking forward to her visit to the area because there are a lot of "art lovers" in the region and Wentworth is a great gallery. The space allows people to have a complete experience of her …
