Livingston School Students Garner National Acclaim

Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy and Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School Students Win Prestigious Scholastic Writing Awards

Ten students from the 7th and 8th grades at the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy were awarded top prizes in the Scholastic Writing Awards competition for their literary submissions.  In a separate Writing Portfolio category open only to high school seniors, 12th grader and Livingston resident Edyt Dickstein was awarded the top Gold Key prize for her work.  The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition is the oldest and most esteemed student writing competition in the nation, recognizing the work of creative teens across the United States.   Mentored by novelist  and lecturer Dara Horn (In the Image, The World to Come, All Other Nights, and the forthcoming A Guide for the Perplexed), the students were able to hone their skills with Horn as …

Frelinghuysen Defends Spending, Supports Israel at Kushner Academy

The 11th district congressman addressed students in Livingston.

Tenth-term U.S. Rep. Rodney P. Frelinghuysen (R-NJ 11th) addressed students at Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy in Livingston on Wednesday, reiterating his support for Israel and defending Congressional spending. Frelinghuysen serves the newly redistricted 11th district, which includes 54 municipalities, including communities in Morris, Sussex, Passaic, and Essex counties. Frelinghuysen told students he spends weekdays in Washington D.C., and weekends in New Jersey, traveling throughout his district. One of his goals, said Frelinghuysen, is "to put a human face on Congress."
