Harrison students struck a pose for fitness with a school-wide calming Valentine’s Day yoga party -- in their pajamas. The event helped students raise money for the American Heart Society.
County executive hosts reception for student artists work.
Students from throughout Essex County were recognized at a reception in the Hall of Records after their art work was shown on display in the county building during the month of March. Each year, Essex County - led by Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. - invites students to submit art work for display. The young artists display everything from pencil sketches, to oil paintings. The chosen art work lines the walls of the first floor lobby. “Essex County has some very creative and talented student artists at all age levels from elementary to high school. Livingston police used skilled detective work and ingenuity last week to swiftly solve a robbery at Harrison Elementary School leading to the arrest of two Livingston residents. Sometime during the night of Dec. 1, someone broke into a classroom trailer at the school by cutting a screen and climbing through an unlocked window. Once inside, the thieves took four digital cameras, an iPod and a violin. Detective David Fischgrund was searching the Internet for sites selling used items when he came across a listing for a violin matching the description of the stolen instrument. Fischgrund contacted the seller and discovered she was also selling digital cameras that fit the description of the stolen items. He then set up a meeting between the …

"The Kindergarten Adventure" presented at Harrison School.
On Friday morning, Harrison Elementary School celebrated its kindergarteners with a production of the annual end-of-year kindergarten play "The Kindergarten Adventure." Approximately 80 kindergarteners sang songs ranging from ABC Rock, I Love the Mountains to God Bless the USA and participated in skits such as the "Number Rumba" and "Five Little Ducks" to the delight of parents, grandparents, siblings and the Kindergarten Team. Patch contributor and proud mother Simone Anthony-Brown was there to capture the rousing performance.
