Silverman, Anthony Win Town Council Seats

Pamela Chirls and David Jasin are the top two vote getters in BOE race.

The votes are counted and Michael Silverman and Al Anthony have defeated Chuck Granata and Allan Feid Jr. for the two open Livingston Town Council seats.  With the win, Silverman and Anthony, the democrats in the race, ensure that the makeup of the council will stay the same politically.  They will be taking over for outgoing Mayor Stephen Santola and councilman Gary Schniederman.  For the Livingston Board of Education, Pamela Chirls and David Jasin will be elected to the BOE to replace outgoing Bonnie Granatir and Chuck Granata. Town Council Candidates Debate Taxes, Municipal Spending

The candidates participate in the first of two forums.

This week, the Livingston Old Guard invited the four candidates running for town council to a meeting for a question-and-answer type forum; Al Anthony and Michael Silverman for the Democratic side; and Chuck Granata and Allan Feid Jr. for the Republicans.  The four candidates are running for the two open seats being vacated by Mayor Stephen Santola and Councilman Gary Schneiderman. The four men were given eight prepared questions before the debate focusing on numerous topics such as taxes, municipal spending, attracting new businesses and government transparency.  Before they began, the men highlighted their credentials for running in the race.  Anthony and Silverman brought up their roles on various town committees and boards, as well as …

Livingston Volunteers Help Keep Prospect Park Clean

The Livingston Environmental Commission met up on Tuesday night to conduct a clean up of debris and garbage at Prospect Park.

As part of the Livingston Health Department’s Clean Community Grant project, the Livingston Environmental Commission met up on Tuesday night to conduct a clean up of debris and garbage at Prospect Park.  Seven Livingston residents donned gloves and walked through the path with recyclable trash bags, picking up any debris they could find in the woods. This was the first park clean up conducted by the commission as part of this grant. "We thought this would be a nice idea for doing an environmentally conscientious event, while also building comradely between the commission members," said Gary Schwartz, Chairperson of the Livingston Environmental Commission.
