The Knights of Columbus Our Lady of the Mountains Council 3533 has been serving the Livingston area for 60 years from…More its headquarters on Eisenhower Parkway. The Council holds fund drives to support local programs for developmentally disabled children, including The ARC of Essex County's summer camp and Stepping Stones school. It also sponsors needy families, and prepares and delivers Thanksgiving dinners to the underprivileged in Newark.
The Knights of Columbus facility is also available to the general public for events. The hall features a large banquet room and barroom, plus a picnic grove with a large tent, tables and grill. Proceeds from event rentals support the Knights' charitable works in the community.
The Livingston Kiwanis is a club of about 45 men and women who are committed to helping others in the community. The…More club's good works include transporting surplus food donated by the Izod Center in Newark to a local food pantry, providing Thanksgiving dinner for the poor, giving grants to the Little League, the Livingston Library and local charities, and awarding scholarships.
The Kiwanis' major fundraiser is its annual Karnival, held in May each year in a field at 70 E. Northfield Rd. The Karnival features rides and food, including pizza and funnel cake from the Kiwanis' own mobile kitchen. The club also holds an annual golf outing.
Weekly meetings are held over dinner at Hanover Manor. Anyone is welcome to join as a member or simply to volunteer. Membership dues are $50 per quarter, and a dues reduction program is also available for those who need it.
