Saint Barnabas to Celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day

In recognition of the 25th Annual National Cancer Survivors Day, the Cancer Program is inviting their patients to a Celebration of Life Luncheon on Sunday, September 9. 

This special event celebrates the courage of cancer survivors, the fortitude of their health caregivers, and the support of their loved ones.  The afternoon is hosted by The Saint Barnabas Cancer Program and will take place from 12 to 3 p.m. at Mayfair Farms, 481 Eagle Rock Avenue, West Orange, NJ 07052.

Celebration of Life will feature a presentation entitled “A Life in the Balance: A Comic’s Story of Surviving Cancer with Laughter and a Passion for Living” by keynote speaker Scott Burton.  An 18-year osteosarcoma survivor, Mr. Burton is an award-winning comedian, national champion juggler, survivor and author of the book, A Life in the Balance.  He is praised for his ability to shed comic light on his own journey to survivorship and his high energy and hilarious performance teaches others how to find joy during challenging times.  Mr. Burton’s unique fusion of stand-up comedy, world-class juggling and jabs at himself are all intertwined with the heartfelt message that surviving cancer – or any challenge, for that matter – requires a positive attitude.

Join Saint Barnabas for Mr. Burton’s inspiring and entertaining program that goes beyond the fear of cancer or struggle in life and calls for joy, laughter, and expression of self every day.
