LHS Alum: "Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame" Finalist

Jennifer Goodman Linn is a finalist in the competition — but she needs more votes to cross the finish line! LEF is encouraging people to vote for her.

The Livingston Education Foundation has recently announced that it supports LHS Hall of Fame Honoree, Jennifer Goodman Linn (Class of 1989), as a finalist in the Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame competition.

In early July, members of the Livingston Education Foundation received emails asking them to support Jen by going to www.energizerhalloffame.com everyday between July 6 and August 20 to cast a vote in her favor.

Jennifer is one of four distinguished LHS alumni to be honored at the Livingston High School Hall of Fame Homecoming Weekend induction dinner this upcoming October 16, to be held at the Cedar Hill Country Club. Information on how to vote for Jen to become the winner of the Energizer contest is on the LEF Facebook Page

"I have been voting everyday to help support Jen meet her goal," said Heidi Cislo, LEF President, in a release.

"The goal of any school district is to provide the educational foundation necessary for its students to achieve for themselves, their families and their community.  Jen is the perfect role model for the vision that we as parents and community members have for our children and for our schools," Cislo added.

In December 2004, Jennifer, a marketing executive and fitness enthusiast was diagnosed with a rare soft-tissue cancer and faced with a 50/50 chance of survival. She has endured through five recurrences, six courses of chemotherapy to shrink the tumors and five grueling surgeries to remove them over the past six years. Throughout her treatment, Jen continued to exercise, and credits cycling with giving her the strength and endurance to survive.

Combining her determination as a cancer survivor and expertise in marketing, Jennifer and her husband, Dave, founded Cycle for Survival, an indoor team cycling fundraiser that supports research on rare or "orphan" cancers.  What began as a small indoor cycling event with 50 teams in 2007 is now one of the fastest-growing cancer research fundraisers in the country.  She has raised more than $5 million to provide hope to millions of patients.

On a video stream found on The Linn Blog, Jen says, "Energizer is looking for people who have a great spirit, who never stop, to induct into the [Keep Going] Hall of Fame … I need you to help me win!"

Winning for Jen means that she would receive $15,000 from Energizer to directly benefit Cycle for Survival.

"We are looking forward to bringing Jen along with fellow LHS Hall of Fame inductees, Harlan Coben, class of 1980, Major General Glenn Rieth, class of 1976, and Joanne Silberner, class of 1973, to speak to our LHS students in 'celebration of education', the theme of the Hall of Fame Homecoming Weekend," Cislo continued.  "It is our hope that her story will encourage our youth to see how they, too, can combine their education with personal passion to achieve for themselves and others."

LEF encourages members of the community to support Jen by going to www.energizerhalloffame.com and voting for her to win the Energizer competition; and then, joining Jen in celebrating education in the Fall by attending the October 16, LHS Hall of Fame Dinner to tell her in-person that your votes helped her to provide funding for cancer research.

Proceeds for the Livingston Hall of Fame Homecoming Weekend will go toward educational initiatives of the Livingston Public Schools in order to provide Livingston students with the tools needed to follow the good example of Jennifer Goodman Linn.  To learn more about LEF, go to www.livingston.org/lef, or contact Heidi Cislo, President of LEF at LEF@livingston.org.
