Burn Foundation Bike-A-Thon Raises $21K for St. Barnabas

7th annual Pedaling for Prevention raised funds for Livingston hospital's burn center.

About 150 people took part in a bike-a-thon fundraiser last Sunday for the Burn Foundation, which supports the Burn Center at Livingston's St. Barnabas Medical Center.

The 7th annual Pedaling for Prevention event took place at the Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center on South Orange Avenue. Acccording to the Barnabas Health website, more than $21,000 was raised. The money goes to pay for Burn Center equipment and to help patients in need, The Alternative Press reported.

Foundation Director Beverly Foster said between 300-450 patients—and thousands of outpatients—are served by the Burn Center each year, according to the article.

Event supporters included Barnabas Health, Be Entertained, Calabria’s Restaurant and Pizzeria, High Gear Cycling, Johnson & Johnson, Meyersville Cafe, PSE&G, Saint Barnabas Medical Center, SEI, Sodexo and Mark Zenobia of On Your Mark Productions.
