Livingston Library Summer Film Series Begins Today

Beginners and The Artist are the first two films to be shown.

On Friday afternoon, the presents the return of the Summer Film Series.  The series is free to the public and is sponsored by the Livingston Library Endowment Fund.  The films start at 1:30 p.m.

First on the list this year is Beginners.  The 2010 film features Christopher Plummer, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in the film.

Oliver Fields is rocked by two announcements from his elderly father Hal – he has terminal cancer and he has a young male lover.  Father and son reconcile their lives, as Oliver learns how to move ahead in his own relationship.

On July 20, the 2011 Academy Award winner for Best Picture, The Artist, will be shown.  The 2011 film features Jean Dujardin, who won the 2011 Academy Award for Best Actor.

The Artist is a love letter and homage to classic black-and-white silent films.  Jean Dujardin is silent movie star George Valentin in late-1920s Hollywood.  Will
talking pictures be the end of his career?  His life becomes intertwined with young Poppy Miller, whose star is on the Rise.

The film will also have a special encore showing on Sunday, July 22 at 2 p.m.
