Lady Lightning Have Season to Remember

Youth1 reports on the Livingston Girls U11 Soccer team's championship win.

(Youth1) The U11 Livingston Lady Lightning were the champions of Flight 1 of the Mid-New Jersey Youth Soccer Association, as well as the Tournament of Champions All Group Division for all U11 girls’ teams in the MNJYSA league. The team, who finished the 2010-2011 year with an outstanding record of 29-9-3, won the Essex Fall Tune Up tournament and came in second in the Parsippany Pride and Chatham United Soccer tournaments.  They also got to the Sweet 16 of both the NJYSA NJ State Cup and the US Club NJ Cup.

In semi-final action, the Livingston Lady Lightning team defeated Watchung Hills 1-0 to advance to the finals of the MNJYSA All Group Division finals on Saturday, June 18th in East Brunswick.

The Livingston Lady Lightning played the Chatham Cheetahs in the finals, a team that the Lightning has played against since U8.  The game was tied 0-0 at half time and stayed that way until minute 47 of the game when Brielle Krause took a direct kick from the left corner and centered the ball to Lexi Porigow, who put it in the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

The game was still tight with Chatham pressing to even the score, but Livingston had a break when Ashley Reuter gave a lead pass to Christine Craitar, who scored the second goal to put the score at 2-0 in minute 55 of the game to secure the victory.  The final score was 2-0 with Livingston capturing the MNJYSA U11 All Group Division championship title.
