Livingston Lacrosse Registration Now Open for Spring Season

The Livingston Lacrosse Club is now registering boys and girls, grades K- 8, for the spring 2014 lacrosse season.  Interested players and parents may sign up now online at www.livingstonlacrosse.org.

Founded in 1997 the Livingston Lacrosse Club is a feeder program for boys and girls who wish to play on the Heritage Middle School and Livingston High School Lancer Lacrosse teams and is actively supported and advised by the High School coaches. In 2013, over 400 Livingston girls and boys participated in the “in-town” and travel programs.

"Why is lacrosse one of the fasted growing sports in Livingston?  Because its a ton of fun to play.  Everyone touches the ball and everyone can score." said Club President Eric Rosenson.   It offers a sports option for athletes of all weights shapes and sizes.  "Livingston youth lacrosse is a fast paced, safe and fun way to improve any athletic skill and is great preparation for other sports that require strength, speed and agility", he said.

For the upcoming Spring 2014 Season, the Club is happy to announce the following programs for boys and girls in grades K-8.  Kindergarten and first graders are in the "Super Scoopers" division where they play a coed, non-contact form of lacrosse.  Skills, including running, scooping, cradling, passing and shooting, are developed in an atmosphere where fun, team work and self confidence are stressed.  Lots of fun drills and games will keep the kids moving through the high energy 1 hour sessions.   Super Scooper sessions begin in mid-April and continue into June.

For boys and girls in grades 2-5 the Club offers In-Town programs where Livingston children play against one another.  As they progress in age and skills, Travel Team opportunities become available.  6th-8th graders will be primarily playing as Travel Teams against other local towns. These programs begin in March and everyone plays.

The Livingston Lacrosse Club is very excited about the growth of their program which has enabled them to offer even more opportunities for players of all ages and playing abilities during the 2014 season.  New for the boys, Grades 6-8 teams will contain up to only 20-22 players in order to maximize playing time during the Games.  New for the girls, the Club will be adding an 5th & 6th grade “Elite Team” chosen from the most competitive players in their respective grades to play other elite teams.  "This new program will allow our most athletic and driven players to test themselves at the highest levels of competition", said Rosensen.

Also new for 2014, winter training is available to Livingston's youth as the Club is now working with local Lacrosse Schools to offer pre-season training lessons at a discount to Livingston players.  This will allow participants to learn the sport's fundamentals before the Spring Season while more experienced players can get in shape in order to start the season ready to play.

Registration for the 2014 season and the winter programs is underway and will close for grades 2-8 at the end of December.  After December, Registration is based on space availability and there is a late fee.  Super Scooper registration continues until the end of March.  Practices for Grades 2-8 start in early March and the Season runs from April until early late May and early June.
