Homecoming Weekend: Lancers Take On Bloomfield, Hall of Fame Ceremony and 5K Run

Get ready for a fun-filled, action-packed weekend in Livingston!

It's homecoming weekend in Livingston.

The Livingston High School Lancers will take on Bloomfield High School at home on Friday at 7 p.m. 

Livingston is now 3-2 on the season after beating Nutley High School last week.

Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony

The Livingston Education Foundation will induct new members to the Livingston High School Alumni Hall Of Fame on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at The Wilshire Grand, at 350 Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange. 

The following alumni will be inducted Friday: Hannah August, class of 2001; Gov. Chris Christie, class of 1980; Nikki James, class of 1999; Ronnie Konner, class of 1966.  

In addition, the Livingston Educational Foundation will be honoring two former faculty members with their Leadership in Education Achievement and Dedication award to John Hopton and Dr. Barbara Tamburro.

Bicentennial Run

The Bicentennial 5K Run/Walk will be Sunday, Oct. 20 as part of the homecoming celebration. In addition, there will be a 1-mile fun run and events for those with special needs. 

The 5K will start at 9:30 a.m. in front of Livingston High School that day. The 5-K Run is certified by the US Track and Field of New Jersey. 

The special needs track and field events will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the the 1-mile fun run at the high school track at 11 a.m. Livingston Public Schools physical education teachers and the YMCA will run special events for children with special needs at the event. 

Booths will be at the event providing information about health/wellness as well as a DJ and prizes.

The fee for the special needs track and field events is $18. Registration opens at 8 a.m. at Livingston High School on Oct. 20. 

Net proceeds will benefit Livingston youth. 

The event is co-hosted by the Big L Club, Livingston Education Foundation, West Essex YMCA in partnership with LACD and the Livingston Bicentennial Historical Committee.
