Jay-Z Unveils New Brooklyn Nets Logo

Co-owner Jay Z designed a new logo for the basketball team, which was unveiled this week. What Do You Think of the Nets' New Brooklyn Logo?

The new "Brooklyn Nets" unveiled their team logos at a sporting goods store in Brooklyn on Monday.  The Nets' logos now have a look that combines design elements from the New Jersey Nets brand with the words, "Brooklyn, New York," surrounding a basketball.

"The Brooklyn Nets logos are another step we’ve made to usher the organization into a new era," said hip-hop artist and team co-owner Jay Z, who designed the logos. "Along with our move to Brooklyn and , the new colors and logos are examples of our commitment to update and refine all aspects of the team."

With the new logos, Jay-Z emerged as a triple-threat for the Brooklyn Nets organization—serving as co-owner,  and now, it seems, lead designer.

"The colors and logos fit with Brooklyn’s strong history and heritage," said Nets CEO, Brett Yormark at the unveiling. "We will be the lone NBA team with only black and white as colors."

NorthJersey.com reported Monday that the merchandise and the new look was well-received by hundreds of fans who showed up for the unveiling.

"Reggie Alberto, 24, of Toms River, made the nearly three-hour journey to be on hand for the first chance to pick up his Nets gear," stated the article. "He was not disappointed by the logo. 'People are buzzing around here for this,' Alberto said, wearing a hat with the new logo. 'I’ve been a Nets fan forever, so whether they’re in Brooklyn or Jersey it doesn’t really matter to me. I’m just going to be a fan until I die.'"
