Way to spoil the party, Super Bowl Committee.
At an event in the Frank Lautenberg Station in Secaucus Monday the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee announced that tailgating—a MetLife Stadium tradition— would be canned for Super Bowl LXVIII.
But don’t fret, lucky football fans can eat and drink in their cars and “provided you're in the boundaries of a single parking space, you'll be able to eat or drink right next to your car, according to Super Bowl CEO Al Kelly.
Sounds like a real blast.
Further harshing everyone's mellow: “You're not going to be able to take out a lounge chair, you're not going to be able to take out a grill, and you're not going to be able to take up more than one parking space. And it'll all be watched very carefully."
The sobering announcement came during an event that further detailed the tightly regulated transportation guidelines for how Super Bowl attendees will be allowed to arrive at the event in East Rutherford on Feb. 2.
