This Week's Livingston School Achievements: May 7

Student Achievement(s)

• Barnes and Noble Booksellers recently conducted their “My Favorite Teacher” contest.  To participate, students in grades one through twelve had to write an essay, poem, or thank-you letter sharing how a teacher has influenced their life and why they appreciate and admire them.  Three Livingston Public Schools students and their favorite teachers were selected and honored at the  at the – teacher Joann Gellar and her student Briana Moritzen, teacher Gail Pogach and her student Sue Son, and teacher Lauren Condon and her student Jennifer Zheng.  Congratulations to both the students and their favorite teachers!

• Congratulations and good luck to the Livingston High School Wind Symphony which will perform at the New Jersey State Gala Concert on Sunday at Kean University.  The LHS Wind Symphony was chosen to perform at this prestigious event based on the results of their performance at the North Jersey School Music Association’s Concert Band Festival.  The LHS Wind Symphony is directed by Michael Jedwabnik.

• Congratulations and good luck to Livingston High School student Stanley Chernavsky.  Stanley joined the Hanover Wind Symphony on piano for their Hometown Heroes concert on Sunday, May 6th at the Gaelen Center for the Arts at JCC MetroWest.  Stanley performed Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor. 

• Congratulations to Adam Ribakove and Elliot Naphtali on being selected by the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants as 2012 scholarship recipients.  Both Adam and Elliot are being rewarded for their academic, interpersonal skills and interest in the CPA profession.  They were two of the top 44 high school and college finalists selected from a total of 157 applicants.  Both Adam and Elliot excelled during the interview process and became two of the 23 high school students that were selected to receive scholarships from the society.  Both Adam and Elliot completed the two year accounting program at Livingston High School to prepare them for this honor.

Staff Achievement(s)

• Congratulations to Mitch Wasserman, Teacher of Mathematics at for being selected to the SMART Exemplary Educator (SEE) program.  The SEE program is open to K–12 teachers, technology coordinators and administrators in the United States and Canada who are committed to developing engaging content and sharing their expertise with other educators.
