Temple B'nai Abraham Honors Hey Class of 2012

A Ceremony of Recognition during a Ma'ariv Service, Temple B'nai Abraham honored the Hey Class (seventh grade) students of Religious School for completing their five-year Hebrew School studies.

Recently, in a Ceremony of Recognition during a Ma’ariv Service, honored the Hey Class (seventh grade) students of Religious School for completing their five-year Hebrew School studies, in addition to synagogue and community volunteer hours.  The seventh grade students led the Ma’ariv Service with additional special readings and prayers.

Religious School Director Janet Resnick and Religious School Assistant Director Rena Yosevitz presented the students with certificates recognizing the completion of their studies in the five-year Religious School program and their moving on to secondary Jewish education, eighth to twelvth grades.  Rabbi Clifford Kulwin officiated with Cantor Jessica Epstein. 

The Hey Class students honored at this service were Matthew Appelbaum, Jessie April, Brooke Cohen, Ari Cohen, Heather Cohen, Lindsay Darrow, Emily Duberman, Justin Eagle, Sydnie Edelman, Lainie Esralew, Jill Friedland, Lindsay Friedman, Adam Geffner, Joshua Gendel, Ryan Gold, Jordan Goldberg, Lily Gorodensky, Harrison Graubard, Mark Greene, Jeremy Hecht, Lindsay Kantor, Joseph Katz, Jason Katz, Joshua Klein, William Klein, Cori Kollin, Jared Kopito, Madeline Lefkowitz, Joshua Leibowitz, Evan Locke, Emily Moskowitz, Jared Nemet, Parker Nusim, Jared Picon, Samantha Reiter, Robert Samuelson, Justin Schoenbach, Zachary Schwartz, Skylar Seitzman, Ellie Shahrabani, Jake Sherman, William Simon, Chloe Tabakin, Zachary Trachtman, Sydney Weinstein, Jacob Weiss, Jordan Wolfson, Danielle Wolk, Zachary Zamore and Haley Zenenberg. The Hey Class teachers are Edit Yarkoni, Florence Goldberg, Alyssa Campbell and Nancy Lichtenberg, as well as Assistant Director Rena Yosevitz.

During the event, awards and scholarships are presented to outstanding Hey Class students in the Religious School.  The recipients were Mark Greene for the PTA Award and Leonard Barkan Award; William Klein for the Dr. Shaul Yarkoni & Abraham Helfman Award; Jill Friedland for the Monroe Meiseles Men’s Club Memorial Award and Clara B. Cohen Memorial Award; Justin Schoenbach for the Schwartz Family Perfect Attendance Award; Zachary Schwartz  for the Herman Greenberg Men’s Club Award and Schwartz Family Perfect Attendance Award; Lily Gorodensky for the Elinor Cohen Memorial Award; Lindsay Kantor for the Leonard Barkan Award and Jane R. Sodowick Award and Madeline Lefkowitz for the Jane R. Sodowick Award.

Registration is in full swing for the temple’s Religious School programs. The Primary School, kindergarten through grade two, meets on Wednesdays or Thursdays from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., and is open to both temple members and non-members.  The Hebrew School, grades three through six meets on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Seventh graders (Hey Class) meet on Tuesdays from 6:25 to 8:00 p.m.  For information, please contact the Religious School Office at 973-994-3950.
