Livingston Schools to Remain Closed on Thursday

Schools still without power following Hurricane Sandy.

Livingston schools will remain closed on Thursday following the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy.

Seven schools are still without power, only the Mount Pleasant Elementary/Middle School complex is back online.  The Livingston High School gym is being used as a shelter for Livingston residents, including Cedar Street Commons for Seniors and Universal Institute, as well as some other group homes.

The 2012-2013 School Calendar includes three snow days.  Schools are closed for students on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6.  Because it is a Presidential Election, LPS does not have the option to open schools that day to make up for the loss of time due to Hurricane Sandy.  Please refer to the School Calendar for how days will be made up if necessary.

We will take this one day at a time," said a statement by the district.  "The main issue for reopening the schools will be power.  We will continue to update you on the LPS Website and by email on the status of the clean up efforts and power outages in Livingston Township.  Thank you for your patience as we work to reopen our schools."
