Livingston Schools To Dismiss Early Tuesday Due to Snow

A winter storm warning for all of New Jersey is in effect from noon Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

With nearly a foot of snow expected to hit the ground during the next two days, the superintendent of Livingston schools has called for an early dismissal for Tuesday. 

Superintendent John Alfieri issued an early dismissal for Livingston Public Schools on Tuesday, according to Marilyn Joyce Lehren, manager of communications for the district. 

Mt. Pleasant and Heritage Middle Schools will dismiss at 12:45 p.m. 

Livingston High School will dismiss at noon.

All other Livingston schools will dismiss at 12:15 p.m.

All after-school activities, programs and events are also canceled.

A winter storm warning for all of New Jersey is in effect from noon Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday with snow starting Tuesday morning and intensifying in the afternoon and evening hours, according to the National Weather Service.

The winter storm is expected to bring as much as 10 inches of snow by Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm will bring more extreme cold weather with wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour, making it feel as low as 10-below zero during the overnight hours Tuesday, the NWS said.

Temperatures are not expected to get out of the teens on Tuesday and Wednesday with lows in the single digits before slowly warming up to the low 20s by the end of the week.
