Livingston High Athletics Postponed, Canceled Due To Weather

The inclement weather and potential for a tornado is postponing and canceling athletics in Livingston on Monday. 

All Livingston High School games and practices have been canceled. The following athletics will be affected:

  • Girls field hockey: Game postponed vs. Columbia at Columbia Memorial Park. 
  • Junior varsity football: Game postponed vs. Montclair at Livingston High School. 
  • Girls varsity soccer: Game rescheduled to Friday, Oct. 11, vs. Glen Ridge in Glen Ridge at Watsessing Park. 
  • Girls junior varsity soccer: Game rescheduled to Friday, Oct. 11, vs. Glen Ridge in Glen Ridge at Carteret Park. 
  • Boys soccer: Postponed vs. Nutley High School at Livingston High School.
  • Girls soccer: Postponed vs. Bridgewater-Raritan at Livingston High School. 
  • Girls varsity tennis: Match rescheduled to Thursday, Oct. 17, vs. Montclair at Livingston High School. 
  • Girls junior varsity tennis: Match rescheduled to Tuesday, Oct. 8, vs. Montclair in Montclair at Nishuane Park. 
  • Girls volleyball: Match postponed vs. Kearny at Livingston High School. 
There will be limited in-door practices for some sports teams, according to the school. 

A tornado watch is in effect for Essex County and several surrounding northeastern New Jersey and southeastern New York counties from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS predicts hard driving rainfall of between 0.5 and 1 inch to cause minor urban flooding with a localized urban flash flood threat possible in some areas. Winds of between 19 and 24 miles per hour are expected this afternoon, with gusts reaching as high as 36 miles per hour.
