LHS Students Win Visual Art Awards

Work of Gold Key winners are on display at the Montclair Art Museum.

Livingston High School students have won 23 Visual Art awards in the prestigious 2013 Northern NJ Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition. The LHS artists won six Gold Key, six Silver Key and 11 Honorable Mention awards. 

The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition is sponsored by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. 

An exhibit of the Gold Key artwork will be on display at the Montclair Art Museum through March 10 in the Education and Art School Arcade gallery. This includes the work of LHS students:

Mikayla Berliner, photography, “Red Riding Hood.”
Taylor Johnson, digital art, “Wanted.”
Priscilla Kim, photography, “Cat Woman.”
Joelle Rait, photography, “Sophie.”

Ximin Wang, photography, “Havisham’s Estate.” 

Works that receive Gold Key recognition at the regional level are automatically included in the pool of work that is judged nationally among Gold Key winning work from across the country. The national awards will be announced in mid-March and winning students will receive their awards at a ceremony held at Carnegie Hall in New York City in May.
