Michelle Obama's new Press Secretary is Livingston's Hannah August

LHS graduate will join the First Lady's Office on May 25.

Hannah August has been named Press Secretary to First Lady Michelle Obama.

August is the daughter of Eileen and Buddy August and is a graduate of Livingston High School. She joins the East Wing in the First Lady's Office on May 25, the White House announced on Friday.

August currently serves as a White House Regional Communications Director in charge of press for the South, parts of the mid-Atlantic, and Missouri, and crafts press strategy on administration policy affecting women. She was previously press secretary at the Department of Justice.

August is a 2001 graduate of Livingston High School and 2005 graduate of University of Pennsylvania.

She began her career in the office of Sen. Robert Menendez and went on to become Deputy Communications Director at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

August is replacing Katie McCormick Lelyveld, who has been with Mrs. Obama since the 2008 presidential campaign.
