The New York Jets' defensive coordinator has been accused of slapping a woman outside a Morristown bar Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Dennis Thurman, 58, of Morristown, is being investigated after a 28-year-old Morris Township woman claimed he slapped her across the face outside Pazzo Pazzo Restaurant, police said.
The website TMZ obtained photos of the alleged altercation.
Morristown Police responded to a Washington Street residence
on Wednesday for an alleged simple assault, Lt. Stuart Greer said.
The victim told police that while standing outside the bar at the restaurant, she was approached by Thurman, Greer said. During a conversation, the victim was allegedly slapped by Thurman, who then left the area, Greer said.
The woman said she was not injured and left the bar with her friend, subsequently contacting police.
Because of the nature of the report, however, the victim was referred to the violations bureau of Morristown Municipal Court to possibly pursue a disorderly persons complaint. No further investigation by the Morristown Police Department will be taken.
