Patch Poll: Do You Lock Your Car at Night?

Recent string of car break-ins are a result of unlocked vehicles.

A surprising amount of recently.  Most noticeable among the reports was that unlocked cars were broken in to the most.

Car break-ins to Livingston residents.  In the past, about the danger of keeping their cars unlocked.

So this raises the question, do residents lock their cars at night?

Some may feel safe enough to leave their cars unlocked.  Some may not want to risk it.

Also, what do residents leave in their car that could be of value?

We always lock our cars - daytime or night time.I feel for those who have been burglarized. Let's not continue to make it "so easy" for criminals to help themselves to our belongings. Using an electic engraver or a black permanent marker on some of your possessions might make it harder for the thieves to sell. Also, writing down serial numbers might help. Any comments from the Livingston police force on if this helps in recovery or making it more difficult for criminals to pawn stolen merchandise? Perhaps a seminar at your local Neighborhood Watch group would help educate us all.

From reading accounts in the newspaper, I can't believe people claim they leave cash, jewelery, and expensive electronics in their unlocked cars.
