Man Killed In 'Motor Vehicle Collision' At Township Garage, Prosecutor's Office Says

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is handling the investigation, said Carter.

A man was killed Thursday in a “motor vehicle collision” at Livingston’s Pubic Works Department garage, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The "fatal collision" happened at approximately 2:45 p.m. at the garage, located at 235 S. Livingston Ave., according to Katherine Carter, spokeswoman for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office. 

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is handling the investigation, said Carter.

There were multiple Livingston Police cruisers still at the scene around 4 p.m. Thursday. The small parking lot of the one-story Public Works garage was congested with township cars and trucks and school buses waiting to be serviced.

Livingston Police officers and Essex County Prosecutor’s Office investigators could be seen multiple times inspecting the front bumper of a large Livingston Township-owned dump truck parked on Brookside Avenue.
