On Aug. 8, North Caldwell Police found Tekirian sitting in her car in the parking lot of St. Anthony of Padua Church at around 3 a.m. North Caldwell Police Chief Mark Deuer said Tekirian told police she was “waiting to speak with the pastor” and was waiting there for hours.

North Caldwell officers were suspicious and concerned for her well being, said Deuer, so they called the West Essex First Aid Squad who evaluated Tekirian. Tekirian was found fit and was allowed to leave.

Less than a week later on Aug. 13, Tekirian’s car was found parked in a municipal parking lot in Caldwell. The same day, a woman who fit Tekirian’s description was seen praying at St. Aloysius Church in Caldwell, said Deuer.

Tekirian has a history of running away. Family members told police the last time Tekirian went missing she turned up in North Carolina, but the family did not file a police report.
