'Tie One On For Safety' This Holiday Season To Prevent Drinking And Driving

Drivers are asked to tie red ribbons to visible locations on their vehicles.

Livingston is asking residents to do their part and help prevent drunk driving this holiday season.

This time of year is one of the most dangerous to be on the road due to drunk drivers. So the Livingston Health Department and Community Policing Unit are asking residents to “Tie One on for Safety” as part of a campaign started by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Drivers are asked to tie red ribbons to visible locations on their vehicles. The red ribbons represent drivers’ pledges to drive safe, sober, to buckled up, and remind other drivers and passengers to do the same.

Members of the Health Department and Community Policing unit will be giving out red ribbons at the Livingston Public Library on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 3-4:30 p.m.

Remember, if you are hosting a holiday party and some of your guests have had too much to drink, drive them home, arrange for a ride with another guest who is sober, call a taxi, or invite them to stay over.
