Have You Seen These Men? Police Seek Possible Witnesses to Teen Slaying

Authorities release photos of two people seen running in the area where a Seton Hall Prep grad was gunned down Wednesday night.

Authorities released photos on Saturday of two men who may have been witnesses to the killing of a Livingston teen who was found shot multiple times on Northfield Avenue in West Orange last week.

The still photographs taken from surveillance video show two men running in the area of Northfield Avenue and Walker Road at about midnight Wednesday when Brendan Tevlin, 19, was fatally shot.

"The males in the photograph MAY or MAY not be witnesses to the homicide so we are seeking to identify them," Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray said in a brief statement.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has said the shooting was a targeted attack and there was no danger to the public. However, no motive has been announced.

The Essex County Sheriff's Office has offered a $10,000 reward for information that leads to those responsible for the killing.

Tevlin, a 2013 Seton Hall Prep grad who was home on summer break after completing his first year at the University of Richmond, had been playing video games and watching the College World Series at a friend's house in West Orange Wednesday night, according to The Star-Ledger.

Tevlin and a group of friends left the Florence Place home and went to a 7-Eleven in South Orange, the report said. Tevlin then texted his mother shortly before midnight that he was on his way home, according to the report.

What happened next remains unclear. According to the prosecutor's office, Tevlin was shot multiple times near the intersection of Northfield Avenue and Walker Road at about midnight and he was found inside his family's Jeep Liberty about a mile east of that location in an apartment complex's parking lot, the prosecutor's office said.

Anyone with information can contact the prosecutor's office at 877-847-7432 1877.
