The ARC Receives a Grant

Livingston organization is awarded $10,000.

On Tuesday, Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. announced the ARC of Essex County in Livingston was among 16 municipalities and 40 non-profit community organizations that received a total of $5.9 million from the Community Development Block Grant program and the Emergency Shelter Grant program.

The grant programs are funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the Essex County Division of Housing and Community Development.

, which provides support, information and advocacy for families and individuals with developmental disabilities, received a $10,000 grant. The organization enables those with disabilities to realize individual goals and to learn, work, play, and coexist with dignity and full participation in the community. 

“Programs supported through the CDBG and ESG programs are direct investments to provide services that enhance our quality of life and help stabilize our neighborhoods by modernizing our infrastructure,” DiVincenzo said. “These federal grants enable us to upgrade our sidewalks and roads, enhance handicap access, address mental health needs, support food pantries and stimulate economic development in our downtown commercial areas,” he added.
