Community Corner

Workshop on Raising An Ethical Child @ TBA

At Temple B’nai Abraham, we encourage all members of our community to explore the many opportunities to learn as part of our Temple family. Education does not stop with a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, high school or college graduation, or ever. Jewish education is a life-long process.  On Tuesday, March 25, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM TBA Congregational Learning presents a workshop entitled “Raising Ethical Children” led by Peter Nelson, Director of Facing History and Ourselves. Join experts in education or adolescent development, along with the Facing History program staff. The topics will include social cruelty among children, evaluating bystander behavior, being a parent to whom your child can turn, helping your child build self-esteem and combating stereotypes. Facing History and Ourselves is a national educational organization whose mission is to engage students of diverse backgrounds in civic education that encourages the skills, promotes the values, and fosters the ideals needed to sustain a democratic society. Facing History involves the community: parents, teachers, police officers, community activists and other citizens. Facing History and Ourselves is a curriculum that honors duality: process and product, head and heart, history and ethics. All are welcome to attend this free workshop. Register online at www.tbanj.org or contact the Jewish Learning Program office at 973.994.3950.For additional information contact Director of Jewish Learning, Melissa Weiner at mweiner@tbanj.org.
