“We invite the entire
community to join in this service of Thanksgiving,” said Rev. Daniel Martian,
president of the Livingston Clergy Council. Houses of Worship, Interfaith Choirs, and Clergy will give
thanks for the diversity and the unity of our community through joyous
singing and special readings; readers will include residents of all ages and
cultures sharing why they are thankful for Livingston.

The Livingston Interfaith choir was
organized by Co-Music Conductors Cantor Perry Fine of Temple Beth Shalom and
Cantor Sharon Brown-Levy of Temple Emanu-El. More than 75 singers are part of
the adult and youth choirs.  Cantor Fine said, “This Thanksgiving will be like no other in the history of
our township. This interfaith celebration will bring together the voices of our
community, the first interfaith choirs in recent memory, to share the
many gifts for which we, as a community give thanks. It will be a glorious
celebration - an evening to remember, a happening that you will not want to
miss!”

Memory boards created by the more than
15 houses of worship around town will be on display when the doors open at 4:30
PM.  In addition, there will be actors in
period costumes from the Bicentennial Historical Committee and a dessert
reception sponsored by Eppes Essen, Nana’s Deli, Regal Bank, Ritz Diner, and
Shop Rite.

The event will take place at Temple
Emanu-El of West Essex located at 264 West Northfield Road (across from the Presbyterian Church).  Cantor Brown-Levy
said, “Our temple community is privileged to host such an extraordinary
event.  This is the largest gathering of interfaith participants in over a
decade. The power of this music and our testimonials will surely inspire!”

There will be a special collection for
C.H.O.W. (Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse) at this service.  This is an opportunity for Livingston to help
others over the holidays.  Non-perishable
items in great need include peanut butter, tuna fish, baby food, pasta, cereal,
cleaning supplies, and diapers.  Shop
Rite gift cards and monetary donations are another way to help out.

The event is free; however,
advance registration is appreciated.
RSVP with the number of people attending to:  http://bit.ly/ThanksLivingston200 or call 973-992-5560.  Walk-ins
on the day of the event will be accommodated based on space.
