Preserving the U.S.S. Constitution

The Livingston Historical Society will hold a meeting on January 28th, 2013 with a lecture on  “Preserving a National Treasure: The U.S.S. Constitution, “Old Ironsides” by military historian, author and lecturer Mr. Carl Schneide.

The main focus will be based on the attendance by Mr. Schneide and the Palmer Family to the ceremonies memorializing the epic battle between the U.S.S. Constitution and the H.M.S. Java, 200 years ago.

Schneide will also give a brief overview of the 32 month war between the USA and Great Britain from 1812 -1815 when the British ship was captured off the coast of Brazil during a 3 hour battle.
