Classic Movie Series at Livingston Library: Waterloo Bridge

The Classic Movie Series features some favorite actors and actresses born in 1913 - Centenarians for the Town's Bicentennial.

Vivien Leigh, born November 5, 1913, is best know for her portrayals of Scarlett O'Hare and  Blanche DuBois, but she appeared in dozens of films and stage plays from 1935 until her death in 1967.

In an extended flashback narration, Waterloo Bridge recounts the story of a dancer and an army captain who meet by chance on London's Waterloo Bridge. Roy, the British officer, recalls the young man he was at the beginning of World War I. He remembers Myra,  the young ballerina he met just before he left for the front. Myra stayed with him past curfew and was thrown out of the ballet. She survives on the streets of London, falling even lower after she hears her true love has been killed in action. But he wasn't killed. Those terrible years were nothing more than a bad dream is Myra's hope after Roy finds her and takes her to his family's country estate.

The program is sponsored by the Livingston Library Endowment Fund. It's free and all are invited.
