Livingston Resident's Store Expands, Moves

Bari’s Baubles in Caldwell, owned by Livingston's Bari Butter, is moving to a bigger and better space up the block on Bloomfield Avenue.

Come Feb. 1, the women’s boutique will have 25 percent more room, a rear entrance which leads to a parking lot and more foot traffic at its new home at 388 Bloomfield Ave., according to Butter.

A bigger shop also means Bari’s Baubles, which opened eight years ago this past November, will for the first time have dressing rooms.

Butter was busy helping customers, packing and overseeing the construction of those dressing rooms on Thursday, a week away from the big move.

Bari’s Baubles carries casual attire that can get you through the day and into the evening, as well as handbags and accessories you don’t see everywhere else, Butter said. Popular lines include Splendid, Language, Vintage Havana and Tractr jeans and jeggings.

While mostly she has focused on tops, the bigger store will have room for more pants, jeans and other bottoms. 

To find her merchandise, she said, “We work with reps, we go to all the shows in New York City, we go out of state.” Some of her jewelry is imported from other countries, such as Italy.

Butter said her shop is known for having a “price point to appease everybody, from inexpensive all the way on up.” She’s also known for a loyal following, she said.

Lori Caflun drove down from Bergen County to shop at Bari’s Baubles Thursday. 

Calfun said although there’s no lack of shops in her hometown of Ridgewood, it’s worth the trip to Caldwell.

“I do have a following from all over,” Butter said. “If you call me, I will pull stuff aside for you.”

Calfun responded, “That’s a much better shopping experience than shopping at the Gap.”

Butter is also on top of the trends and chatted comfortably about what’s hot for spring 2013. Her hints: Maxi dresses will be back in a big way and embroidered tunics will be all the rage.

In the meantime, merchandise is marked 50 and 75 percent off at the 422 Bloomfield Ave. shop in preparation for the move.
