Livingston Doctor Creates Revenue-Generating Social Media App

Michael Nusbaum said it was time for people posting their photos and videos to make some money, report says.

Michael Nusbaum, the owner of Obesity Centers of New Jersey based in Livingston, is a pretty busy guy. He's also extremely innovative.

The Mendham Township father of three is a bariatric surgeon, but he’s also a tech tinkerer. And he’s created a new mobile app that can help users make money by using social media.

Bonzo Me, according to dailyrecord.com, is Nusbaum’s latest creation and pays users for posting and viewing pictures and videos.

The app is bringing in some 250 downloads each day since its official launch on July 1, the report said, and Nusbaum claims it’s the first app of its kind.

Essentially, a user’s photo or video upload will be tied to an advertisement, the report said. When that post or status is viewed a certain number of times, or reaches a predetermined threshold as set by the advertiser, the user then gets a payout.

This isn’t Nusbaum’s first foray into the tech world. It’s not even his second. The doctor and two other physicians created the world’s “first electronic medical record system” in 1998, the report said, and he also is founder of an app that allows doctors and patients to communicate directly and securely to have virtual visits, the report said.

The Bonzo Me app is available on both iPhone and Android platforms.
