David Colicchio, current Berklee College of Music student and 2009 Livingston High School graduate, and his band Me Vs Gravity, are set to release their debut album sometime in mid to late April.
The band released their first single “Walls,” along with a music video in late January and since has accumulated nearly 50,000 views on Youtube. The song will be included on their 7-song EP.
“It’s been so cool seeing the video take off like this,” Dave said. “For the first few weeks we closely followed the numbers, watching them climb. Being really, really happy with the results got us working to build up a strong group of songs.”
The band, consisting of Dave and three other Berklee students from all over the USA, cites bands such as 30 Seconds to Mars and My Chemical Romance as influences for their clean-cut pop-rock sound.
When Dave met his other band mates in a college cafeteria he knew there was something there.
“We get along really well and all play a very big part in the whole essence of the band. We've even developed a whole new set of lingo that causes most people to glare at us,” Dave laughed. “But we've all become really great friends from all the time we've spent together.”
The varying locations of each band members’ home (Ohio, Maryland, California, and New Jersey) have created their share of difficulties in the past, but they have found ways to overcome.
“We don’t plan on stopping any time soon,” Dave stated. “We’ve all decided to stay in Boston over the summer to keep practicing together, continue writing, and hopefully get a mini tour together for some time in the middle of the summer.”
If you’re wondering if you’ll get to see Me vs Gravity in Livingston any time soon, Dave’s answer to that is, “Hopefully!”
