Livingston Snubbed In NJ 'Safest Communities' List

The only Essex County municipality to be included in the list was Nutley Township, which came in at No. 40.

Livingston didn't make the cut in a new study that ranked the 50 safest communities in New Jersey.

The study was published Monday by Safewise.com. The website analyzed data from the FBI's 2011 "Crime in the U.S. Report" and ranked what it considered the top 50 safest communities with 15,000 residents or more.

Livingston has a population of nearly 30,000, according to U.S. Census data.
