The Artist is a love letter and homage to classic black-and-white silent films. Jean Dujardin, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor, is silent movie star George Valentin in late-1920s Hollywood. Will talking pictures be the end of his career? At the same time, Berenice Bejo is young Poppy Miller, whose star is on the rise. Their lives intertwine throughout the film. The Artist won the 2011 Oscar for Best Picture.
