Last Chance to Enroll for Next Children's Theatre Production

The Children's Theatre of Livingston will present Pinocchio in March 2013.

The Children’s Theatre of Livingston (CTL), where every child takes center stage, is proud to announce their seventh production, Pinocchiothe Workshop.  The application process is starting one full month earlier than in the past, to accommodate the demand from the community.  Enrollment forms will be accepted by mail between Nov. 8 and Nov. 30 on a first-come first -serve basis.

Pinocchio is a 1940 American classic. The main plot is the story of an old wood-carver named Geppetto who carves a wooden puppet named Pinocchio who is brought to life by the Blue Fairy, who tells him he can become a real boy if he proves himself "good, honest and brave". Thus begin the puppet's adventures to become a real boy, which involve many encounters with a host of rascally characters.

This will be performed “Greek Theatre” style which allows the audience to watch the story unfold right before their eyes.  The audience will be seated surrounding the stage so they will have an intimate view of the action as it unfolds.  There is no “backstage” so all performers will remain onstage and in character for the entire performance.  The audience will be encouraged to participate by the performers. There is also opportunity for performers to use improvisation and ad-lib in this style.  Most important is that everyone enjoy the process of learning how to put on a play and experience the joy of self-expression.

The show will be presented March 9, 2013.  This theatrical experience offers the children of Livingston the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the stage in a fun workshop format.  Children in second through fifth grade are invited to sign up to perform on the stage. The show is being produced by Martha Ackermann and Fatima Calcado and will be directed by Ellen Margolies and Linda Rishty, both of whom have extensive experience in community theatre both onstage and off.

CTL will accept the first 50 children who apply for onstage.  The cut-off date for enrollment is Nov. 30.  Registration forms may be downloaded at the CTL website at www.childrenstheatreoflivingston.org and all forms will only be accepted by mail.  There is a participation fee of $135 for on stage that includes a commemorative T-shirt, cast picture, and performance DVD.   Rehearsals for Pinocchio will take place on Sunday afternoons from 1-3:30, and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 PM at Northland Center.  The first mandatory family meeting will be held on Thursday December 6, 2012.
