Temple B'Nai Abraham Takes on Sandy

The synagogue collected supplies to aid those in need.

A call to action was put forth by Temple B’nai Abraham’s Social Action Committee (SAC), led by Lisa Reisboard, SAC chair, asking for donations of bottled water, non-perishable food staples, new blankets, toys and children’s books.

The collection effort was to aid those in need in New Jersey who were dealing with desperate challenges in aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Temple members Susan and Robert Cohen generously donated the use of a tractor trailer truck from their company, New England Motor Freight (NEMF) of the Shevell Group in Elizabeth, New Jersey to deliver the donated items to the American Red Cross warehouse in Somerset, NJ.

Although many members in the Temple B’nai Abraham family were dealing with their own “Sandy” issues, the congregation overwhelming came together to help those in need, filling the truck to the brim with these most needed items.
