Gladys Canter, of Livingston, embraces Memory Bears created by Barnabas Health Hospice in memory of her mother, Helen Berko.
The Bears are four of hundreds that are hand-crafted each year by the Barnabas Health Hospice Memory Bears Volunteer Team to help sustain special memories for families following the loss of a loved one being served by Barnabas Health Hospice. They are made using the favorite garment(s) of a person who has passed away and instantly become treasured keepsakes.
Canter, who at first was not sure she wanted to participate in the Memory Bears Program, is now looking forward to sharing them with her granddaughter and two daughters.
“Everyone loved my mother,” she said. “She always laughed and smiled and brought happiness into the lives of others. These bears can help continue sharing the joy she gave to so many."
The Barnabas Health Memory Bears Program is funded solely by donor support. To make a donation to the program, or for more information, contact Megan Knight, Director of Development, Barnabas Health Hospice, at 973-322-4818 or email@example.com.
