Livingston Bicentennial Committee Releases Event Schedule

The committee plans 12 months of celebration.

This year is Livingston's Bicentennial year and the Livingston Bicentennial Committee has a year-long worth of celebrations planned.

The committee has been meeting for almost two years, resulting in a schedule of events fitting for a 200th birthday.  Each month has a theme, with specific events designed to fit that month's theme. 

January: Strengthened by Volunteers

  • Jan. 1, Tuesday: Annual Reorganization Meeting and Reception
  • Jan. 21, Monday: Day of Service on Martin Luther King Day
  • Jan. 24, Thursday: Volunteer Recognition Day
  • Jan. 26, Saturday: Volunteer Fair

February: Honoring Our Founders

  • Feb. 5, Tuesday: Founder's Day Observance featuring Governor Tom Kean
  • Feb. 27, Wednesday: Environmental Film Festival

March: Getting Greener

  • March 3, Sunday: Environmental Film Festival at the Library
  • March 10, Sunday: Environmental Film Festival at the Library
  • March 20, Wednesday: Environmental Film Festival at the Library
  • March 27, Wednesday: Environmental Film Festival at the Library
  • Throughout March: Look for daffodils blooming all around the town!

April: Fit and Active

  • April 11, Thursday: First Meeting Day Celebration featuring Governor Chris Christie
  • Throughout April: Big L & Sports Council athletic programs

May: Happy Birthday!

  • May 20-25: Youth Appreciation Week
  • May 22, Wednesday: First showing of the film "Honoring Livingston's Military Heroes...in their Own Words"
  • May 27, Monday: Memorial Day Parade

June: Getting to Know You

  • Throughout June: "History of Livingston Housing" Architectural Tours
  • Throughout June: Bicycle tours of historical sites in town

July: Fireworks & Family Fun!

  • July 4, Thursday: All-day celebration, music and nighttime fireworks
  • Throughout July: Concerts at the Gazebo

August: Community

  • Aug. 6, Tuesday: National Night Out

September: Old-Fashioned Fun!

  • Sept. 22, Sunday: Town-wide Picnic
